In this course students will obtain theoretical and practical knowledge of event execution through specific focus on the five phases of the event planning, industry best practices, the review of event case studies, and the students' opportunity to execute their own special event. The students will be exposed to the major sectors within event coordination: logistical planning, human resource and volunteer management, event financial management including budgeting and sponsorship, event marketing and promotion. Utilizing multiple presentation formats including lectures, student presentations, event case studies, this course reinforces the creativity, decision-making, communication, event management, financial and team work skills employed to successfully conceptualize, develop, plan, execute and evaluate an event from start to finish.
