This course introduces students to the vital role managers and supervisors play in the success of a fitness and wellness club. The three main areas covered in this course are managing oneself as a professional, leading and motivating others and managing the operations of a facility. Topic areas include, but are not limited to, human resources (hiring the right people, staffing a club and managing employee performance), customer service strategies to increase profits and retain customers and risk management (recognizing and avoiding risks and financial management). Through the use of case studies, group work and roleplaying, students will be exposed to the principles and practices that contribute to a facility's success.
