Wellness Coaching is a powerful relationship built on trust, honest reflection, and strong support for clients at vulnerable times in their life journeys. In this course, students start with a clear assessment of their own emotional intelligence as an essential element of productive relationship-building. Strengthened with this important perspective, students are challenged to recognize the significant differences between the role of expert and that of the coach. They also explore the similarities and differences, and challenges and opportunities of using telephonic and digital communication to enhance or replace face-to-face coaching, to ensure that clients are supported in achieving their wellness goals. Students develop skillful abilities to uncover assumptions and bias, to enhance empathy and build rapport. Professionalism and ethics and re-examined and applied in establishing, managing and ending client relationships.
