Nutrition for Healthy Living

Proper nutrition plays a vital role in health, weight maintenance, and helps reduce the risk of chronic disease. This course examines the key elements of good nutrition from an evidence-based scientific perspective. Students will acquire fundamental knowledge in nutrition, which they can use to make improvements in their own diet. Key topics covered include recommendations for dietary intake, digestion and hydration, the six classes of nutrients, and strategies to manage a healthy weight. Special emphasis is placed on Canada's nutrition guidelines and critical analysis of current nutrition trends.
