Second-year Fitness & Health Promotion students have launched a six-week training program for students in the Pre-Service Firefighter program.
Uniterra, an organization associated with the WUSC (World University Service of Canada) and the CECI (International Centre for Studies and Cooperation), created a program where volunteers, including teachers, students and everyday individuals can apply to travel to a country in need and share their skills and with the community. Two faculty members from the School of Hospitality, Recreation & Tourism are taking part in the program this summer.
Congratulations to Baking & Pastry Arts Management student Ruby Nguyen, who placed fourth overall at the Skill Canada Competitions. Ruby represented Humber and the province of Ontario in Moncton, New Brunswick. Well done, Ruby!
On Monday, July 4, 2016, Tourism - Travel Services Management students hosted the annual Humber Travel Trade Show, as part of their Selling Destinations course.
What a night it was with over 1000 people in attendance! Congratulations to all of our HRT graduates! Saad Rafi, former CEO of the 2015 Pan Am Games received an Honourary Degree and addressed the graduates. Mara Visan, graduate of the Tourism Management - Travel Industry Services program received the President's Medal. Kathryn Gee, graduate of the Hospitality Management - Hotel & Restaurant program received the Board of Governors Award.
The School of HRT recently held their Plenary Day at the Vue, a day to look back on all of the successes over the past academic year and to discuss new initiatives for the fall.
On June 4th, the School of Hospitality, Recreation and Tourism hosted the first Massage Therapy Alumni dinner.
