Faculty, staff and students gathered together on May 30, 2016 to thank work placement employers in Nutrition programs who provide endless opportunities to students and provide such an important component to the Food & Nutrition and Nutrition and Healthy Lifestyle Promotion programs.
Program Coordinator for Nutrition programs, Tina Horsley, recently held an industry appreciation and networking event for students, faculty, alumni and work placement employers on Monday, May 30 as a thank you for their contributions. Students and recent graduates were able to network with the work placement employers who have a significant role in the program.
“Our nutrition programs would not be where they are today without the contributions from these employers who consistently provide work placement opportunities for our students,” says Tina. “It’s an integral part of the program and when our students graduate, they leave with experience in the industry, which is so important, “ she adds
Karine Barlow, Registered Dietitian and owner of Gluten-Free Boutique, spoke to the crowd about her unique business servicing both gluten-free clients seeking nutrition counselling, as well as businesses with an interest in providing a gluten-free product. With over 20 years of experience in the nutrition industry, including working in corporate and health care settings, she had a lot share to our students, alumni and industry guests.
