Program/Graduating Year: Hospitality Management, 2006
Role: Oversee the 108-suite property and ensure smooth day-to-day operation between all departments. Ensures all employees of the property are working well and are fully supported. Responsibilities extend to payroll, hiring and staff training.
The best part of the job: “Waking up each morning and wondering what the day will bring. It’s something that drives me to do well. The best part of the day is when we review our guest satisfaction results with the team. Seeing them thoroughly invested in this and seeing the passion they bring makes me proud. I also love talking to guests and finding out who they are and why they are here. Being a small hotel, we can achieve this better than a large full-service hotel.”
How Humber helped: “It was in this program that I fell in love with the hotel industry. My Revenue Management class affected me the most, and is what lead me down the path of operations. The other amazing aspect was my internship. Having three in three years in various departments at three different hotels opened my eyes to which area of hotel operations interested me. I value the time I spent at Humber immensely, and credit the instructors and the program for much of how my career has flourished over the last 10 years.
