It’s not just masterful cooking skills that the School of HRT provides its talented culinary students – they also have access to master chefs and organizations throughout Toronto.
On Tuesday, March 6th, the culinary programs hosted a Mix and Mingle for culinary students and professionals to get together and discuss different avenues available for a fulfilling culinary career and the steps to take when they want to acquire further certifications down the line.
The culinary Mix and Mingle hosted three special guests: Tom Hogan and Lenny Chantiam from OTG, and Maysaa Sakr from Rooks to Cooks. OTG owns restaurants in all major airports across North America and brings world-renowned chefs to their innovative kitchens. Rooks to Cooks offers summer cooking camps and afterschool programs for children learning to cook. Children as young as four years old attend their sessions.
All three of these guests discussed their careers, organizations, advice for breaking into the industry and current opportunities within their companies. Chef Shonah then discussed the Red Seal certification and the best prep techniques for writing the exam later in their career.
