Dimuthu Perera

Dimuthu Perera is an award-winning pastry chef who has lived in Canada since 2004. He came to Canada with the hope that the opportunities that the country is known to provide would help him further his dream of becoming a world-renowned pastry chef.

In 2008, his dream became a reality when he competed in the Culinary Olympics in Frankfurt, Germany and walked away with two gold medals. This is one of the many competitions he has taken part in during his 25-year career within the culinary industry.

Dimuthu began teaching in 2009 when he got the opportunity to teach in the Pastry Arts program at Confederation College in Thunder Bay. The experience left him with a mission to help others find the passion that he had found at a young age of 19.

In November 2011, Dimuthu accepted a position at Georgian College while he was employed full-time as the Executive Pastry Chef at Casino Rama. He began teaching at Humber College in September 2014.

  2. Culinary Salon 2007 – Toronto On. – 3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze and the Judges Award – Grand Gold Excellence.
  3. Culinary Salon 2006 – Toronto On. – 5 Gold, 1 Silver, 1 Bronze and the Judges Award – Grand Gold Excellence, Best Professional Pastry Chef and Best Culinary Artist.
  4. Emirates Culinary Salon 2001 – United Arab Emirates – 1 Gold, 2 Silver

In 2015, Dimu founded Cakes to Dream On, a catering service that allows him to bring his talents and skills to the general public.
