Julie is a graduate of Humber's School of Business (Advance Diploma in Business Administration) and also holds a Bachelor of Administrative Studies from Athabasca University. Julie's extensive career in the Travel Industry afforded her the opportunity to work in many diversified areas; airlines, travel agencies and tour operators. One of Julie’s positions as a manager of major travel call center in Toronto required her to provide on-going training to new hires and this ignited her teaching dream! Julie first joined Humber's Tourism Program as a part-time faculty member in 1990 while still continuing to work in the Travel Industry. In 2000, Julie became a full-time faculty member and in 2012 Julie was appointed the program coordinator. Julie’s industry knowledge, work experience and commitment to student success have all been instrumental in making Humber's Tourism program the leader in tourism education. Julie's dedication to student learning has been recognized by her students several times and she was nominated for a Student Appreciation Award in 2008 and again in 2018. Julie's commitment to student success and excellence has also been recognized by the College; in 2003 she received a College Innovation Award for her efforts in partnering with the Transat Group to bring leading edge technical training to the Tourism program, in 2012 she received the Distinguished Faculty Award for the school of HRT and in 2015 she received the Extra Mile Award for her contribution in providing students experiential learning opportunities through various program and school study abroad programs. In 2016 Julie was honoured with the John & Suanne Roueche Excellence Award, a North American award which recognizes excellence in community college teaching and leadership. Julie‘s three passions are; her family, travelling and teaching!
