Karen graduated with honours and earned her diploma in Humber College’s previously named Travel and Tourism Program.
She is an active member of the Association of Canadian Travel Agencies (A.C.T.A.) and previous to that, the Canadian Institute of Travel Counsellors (C.I.T.C.) and has held the designation of Certified Travel Counsellor (C.T.C.) since graduating from Humber College.
Upon embarking on the teaching phase of her career she completed both the Teaching Effectiveness Certificate from Humber College and the Teacher Education Certificate from Sheridan College.
She is a past recipient of Humber College’s Part-time Faculty of the Year Award.
She is also certified as an instructor of both the “Super Host” and “Service Excellence” programs which are overseen by the Ontario Tourism Education Corporation (O.T.E.C).
Most recently, Karen has been appointed as a Trainer of the Travel Industry Council of Ontario (TICO) Educational Standards Examination Material. Having passed both the TICO Travel Counsellor and Supervisor/Manager exams she also regularly proctors TICO exams for both her students and the travel industry.
