Upon graduating from the University of Guelph's Hotel and Food Administration program, Kristy began her career in the hotel business in downtown Ottawa. Within two years of graduating, she became General Manager of a new 130-room hotel in Markham, Ontario.
From there, Kristy proceeded to hold such positions as Director of Franchise Services, Canada for 65 hotels, Regional Director of Operations-US Pacific Northwest for 14 hotels in the states of Arizona, Oregon, and Washington, and Vice President of Human Resources & Administration for an international hospitality corporation with 10 hotel brands in Canada, the US and overseas.
The depth of her experience allowed her to rapidly make her way up the corporate ladder and Kristy was appointed President & Chief Operating Officer of Howard Johnson Franchise Canada Inc.
In 2004, Kristy joined Humber College as a full-time professor. In recent years, she assumed the position of Program Coordinator for the Hospitality & Tourism Operations Management Post Graduate Program as well as the Tourism and Hospitality Management- Event Planning program, Year 2. And as of Fall 2014, Kristy became the Program Coordinator for the Hospitality Management- Hotel & Restaurant program, the Food & Beverage Services Certificate program, the 4th Semester in Europe Study Abroad program as well as the Hospitality Management Online Certificate program.
Kristy is the Faculty Advisor for the HUMBER HOSPITALITY & TOURISM SOCIAL NETWORK (HHTSN) on campus. She sits on the Board of Directors for the provincial body, Regional Tourism Organization of Ontario, Region 6-Central Counties. She is an active member of the Hotel Association of Canada (HAC), the Canadian Hospitality Marketing and Sales Executive (CHMSE) and Meeting Professionals International (MPI).
