Leila has a Ph.D. in Biomechanics from the University of Western Ontario. Her Ph.D. research focused on functional fitness testing, specifically the Functional Movement Screen and the Y-balance test. She is also interested in occupational injury of repetitive tasks and mechanisms of injury. Leila comes from a background as a professional musician and also holds a Master’s degree from the prestigious Eastman School of Music in Rochester, NY, and a B.Mus. from the University of Adelaide. In her spare time, she is a competitive weightlifter and weightlifting judge. In 2015, she was the silver medalist in the Canadian masters weightlifting championships, where she broke the Ontario masters record in the snatch.
