Stacey graduated from Queen's University with a Bachelor of Physical and Health Education and a Bachelor of Education. His first full time job was Men's and Boys' Physical Director at the Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island Y.M.C.A. He moved to the Metropolitan Y.M.C.A. where he worked as an Assistant Physical Education Director (Adult Fitness) at the North York Y.M.C.A. and Physical Education Director at the West End Y.M.C.A. From there, Stacey moved to municipal recreation, working his way up through the ranks, starting as the Fitness Co-ordinator, then Fitness and Sport Supervisor, Facilities Manager and eventually Acting Director of Property and Facilities. In that capacity, he directed the work of 61 full time union and management staff, oversaw the maintenance, repair, cleaning and renovation of 60 City facilities, including arenas, pools and community centres, valued at $95 million and administered an annual operating budget of over $6 million. Stacey joined Humber as a full time faculty member in 1997.
