This summer Humber opened the “doors” to the much-anticipated Food Learning Garden. This garden is a space for students and community members to learn about sustainable urban agriculture, local food security and how to grow, harvest and cook their own fresh, healthy food.
This learning garden is especially important for the School of HRT’s Culinary students, who get to integrate the space into their learning by using the freshly grown ingredients and learn about farm-to-fork cooking. Additionally, the garden will provide healthy locally grown ingredients for use in the dishes at The Humber Room.
The official grand opening, held on August 14th, featured delicious dishes from the fruits and vegetables grown right here on campus, cooked and served by our culinary students.
We are looking forward to many more tasty, sustainable learning experiences here in Humber’s new garden!
