HRT Students were treated to an informative and delicious trip to Italy, where they ate some of the world’s best food, took cooking workshops and seminars and visited cities bursting with activity and culture.
Chef Francisco Rivera, a professor of Humber's Culinary Program, led this amazing 14-day study abroad trip. Some of the highlights included a hands-on cooking seminar at the Florence University of the Arts, a tour and tasting at the Banfi Winery in Montalcino and a seminar in Modena on how Balsamic Vinegar is made.
The trip was an amazing learning experience for students and faculty members. Everyone came back to Toronto with new knowledge and skills on Italian cuisine, but more importantly, with full stomachs.
The trip was an unforgettable experience for the students who attended. Here is a selection of their thoughts:
“You can’t say you know how to make Italian food until you go there and try it yourself. This trip’s worth it.”
“It was a very enjoyable trip. The people, food and culture were interesting to learn about. I met new people and created memories I won’t forget.”
“Trip of a lifetime with amazing people! The experiences and tours are things which I will never forget!”
“Meeting new people, travelling around Italy and experiencing the culture and cuisine was a great experience and has definitely made an impact on me, which will have a positive effect on my career. Amazing trip organized by amazing people.”
“The study abroad Italy program will open your eyes to culinary possibilities you thought were impossible.”
Thank you to Francisco Rivera and the Humber staff for organizing this amazing journey. Thanks as well to all the organizations who shared their expertise with our students and staff.
