This course challenges students, through analysis of self-assessments, to develop concrete and usable supervision, management and leadership skills. It differentiates key management and leadership concepts and how these can be applied in a rapidly changing global environment. The course compares and contrasts the traits, behaviours and attributes of supervisors, managers and leaders. It analyzes leadership skills, such as decision-making, motivation, followership and conflict resolution skills required to build effective working relationships with individuals and teams. It also explores key factors that impact effective leadership in today's hospitality industry, including the global marketplace and diversity.
