We are thrilled to announce that new Tourism and Travel Management student, Yanet Daniel Tekle, has been selected as the recipient of the Jamaican Canadian Association (JCA) Dudley Laws Memorial Scholarship sponsored by Humber College.

Yanet’s passion for travel was ignited when she immigrated to Canada four years ago with her siblings. She now wants to build a successful career in the tourism industry centred on helping homelessness internationally.

During her time at Monsignor Fraser College, Yanet volunteered for WoodGreen Immigrant Services and Access Alliance Points, performing cooking, gardening and other fundraising activities to help the community. She was also a Peer Leader, helping newcomers settle into their life in Canada.

Yanet’s long-term goal is to work with the United Nations to ignite change for the billions of people worldwide living in poverty. Yanet comes from a background of war and poverty, which gives her a special passion and drive to advocate for others.

Congratulations, Yanet, on this wonderful achievement and welcome to the School of HRT!
