Q. Why did you choose Humber College?
Q. Which class did you find most beneficial?
A. Customer Service Excellence class offered for our program gave me the opportunity to get an in-depth knowledge of the hospitality industry. It was beneficial as customer service happens to be the core of hospitality industry and taking this class polished my people skills and improved my approach.
Q. What do you enjoy about your career?
A. It is rewarding to be part of the hospitality industry where the possibilities of world travel for leisure or work are endless. Working in the this industry has many perks from having flexible work schedule to meeting new people but I personally really enjoy the travel/accommodation benefits.
Q. What was the biggest obstacle you faced during your time as a student?
A. At times it got challenging to have assignments and projects on hand with fast approaching deadlines.
Q. How did your experience at Humber help you find employment after graduation?
A. My experience collected while doing my internship lead into a full-time employment after graduation. It allowed me to showcase my skills and knowledge I had gathered while at Humber to be applied directly.
Q. In what ways did Humber prepare you for the work world?
A. Being responsible for submitting multiple assignments at times was a challenge but in reality it prepared me for the work world. It not only improved my time management but also made me a responsible professional who confidently takes ownerships of all projects on hand.
Q. What opportunities would you urge other students to take advantage of?
A. I would urge all the students to take full advantage of your faculty and their industry connections. Attend as many networking events as you can to give yourself exposure. Showcase your commitment to the hospitality industry through your internship as it may lead to future opportunities.
Q. In your opinion, what are 5 crucial skills needed to preform your job?
Q. Why Hospitality?
A. I chose hospitality because it is a people-oriented industry which aligns perfectly with my personality. Hospitality industry is one of the most diverse industries with so many opportunities to grow in different areas. Hospitality has a broad spectrum which allows you the ability to be able to work anywhere around the world as we all speak the same language of hospitality.
Q. What advice would you give future/current students taking this program?
A. All the faculty of Hospitality & Tourism are a huge asset as they all come with strong industry connections. My advice would be to use their connections to explore hospitality industry as they are experts at what they do and all future/current students should take this an opportunity to grow their careers with their support and guidance.
