Q. Which class did you find most beneficial?

A. I found the marketing course most beneficial for me, especially when we learned about your personal brand

A. I enjoy the effects of meeting new people, you make a new connection and you may learn a different culture than your own.

Q. What advice would you give future/current students taking this program?

A. Hospitality is a people business, so get used to meeting and interacting with new people, and don’t be afraid if you are more of an introvert. I am an introvert, and over the years with the help from others I learned how to best express myself at a level I am comfortable with.

Q. What was the biggest obstacle you faced during your time as a student?

A. I have a learning disability, therefore, my biggest obstacle was taking all of this new information in while being worried that my professors wouldn’t know how to teach me the best way.

A. Humber College didn’t only provide me with the information needed, they also gave the mentality for the hospitality industry and for the current work environment as a whole.

3. Emotional control (since we are dealing with emotional labour)

Q. Why hospitality?

A. I love helping people and making people smile. As far as I can remember I had a strong belief that we must a way to be a service to people.

Q. What opportunities would you urge other students to take advantage of?

A. There’s two great opportunities to take advantage of: the first one, all of your professors came with 15+ years in hospitality, so learn from them but more importantly make connections with them because they still know people in the industry which means they may decide to help you out beyond school. The second one, Humber College provides many scholarships which means free money for school.
