Creating a captivating cake is our Baking and Pastry Arts students’ specialty. On April 30, 2018, the College Creative Challenge made a grand return to the Bakery Showcase where Humber’s Baking and Pastry Arts students created an elaborate confectionery display for guests to see.
This year, the Bakery Showcase Trade Show and Conference took place at the International Centre located in Mississauga. Prior to the event, Humbers Baking and Pastry students got their creative juices flowing and came up with a brilliant design that met the requirements of this year’s chosen theme “Dreams”. Their intriguing design dubbed “Highway to Dreamland” encompassed an imaginary world that can only be found in a creative mind.
Their 3D masterpiece was a massive cake topped with a male figure driving down a chocolate covered road in his orange car, passing by a colorful scenery of lollipops, cotton candy trees, a three-tier cake and a rocket ship exploding into space. A friendly rivalry between Humber, Centennial and George Brown College Baking students added some much-anticipated pizazz to the competition.
Humber’s Baking and Pastry instructors were also present at the event, having set up a booth to display various artistic works of sugary treats while answering exhibitor’s questions about Humber’s baking programs.
Congratulations to Humber’s baking and pastry students who worked tirelessly creating and molding their masterpiece of a sugary display. Additionally, thank you to our baking and pastry chefs who took the time out of their demanding schedules to inform exhibitors about Humber’s various baking and pastry programs.
