When working in the field of recreation and sport, it is essential to have strong leadership skills; in order to confidently advise and lead others. On September 25-27th our Sport Management and Recreation and Leisure Services students attended a Leadership Camp at the Ontario Education Leadership Centre just outside of Orillia. The OELC offers several leadership courses to educate and connect youth as well as aid students in achieving their leadership potential.

Over 235 students from both programs engaged in applied leadership experience throughout the course of three days. They participated in team building activities, motivation and values-based workshops. They also had the opportunity to tune in to two guest speakers – Jonathan Hood and Lauree Brownlee.

Thanks to the OELC for having us and to the guest speakers for speaking to our students! They had a memorable time.
