THE AMAZING RACE COMES TO HUMBER

October 3, 2018

The School of Social and Community Services collaborated with the City of Toronto officers from Toronto Police Services (TPS) to host an Amazing Race event at the Lakeshore campus for high school kids in our community. This is part of the TPSs initiative to help build trusting relationships between the kids and our officers. The students ranged in age from 14 to 16 years old.

On behalf of the HRT department at Humber College, the Humber College CAFP Student Branch came up with an activity called "Mission Nutrition" as part of the race. The activity challenged the students to complete an obstacle course followed by an activity to build a "Healthy Balanced Meal" based on Canada's Food Guide. Humber CAFP Executive members Liz Dalton, Jessica Brzostek, N'ttendre Cox, Madison Vallee, and Humber alumni Helena Sebescen and Mandisa Lau participated and ran the HRT activity called "Mission Nutrition". The event was very successful, and we hope the high school students had fun while learning about creating balanced meals along the way!
