Praveen Chilkuri

Praveen Chilkuri has over 26 years of international industry experience in the field of culinary arts. He has worked with a variety of established hotel brands for over 19 years in the capacity of Executive Chef

He graduated with honours in Hospitality Management and Business Administration from the Institute of Hotel Management in Mumbai. Praveen further studied for an additional two years in Culinary Management as a management trainee, giving him the stepping stone to be a young Sous Chef.

In the early years, his passion for the arts was showcased when he won accolades in student chef competitions. As a Sous Chef with Starwood Hotels, he had the opportunity to lead a culinary entourage for many famous personalities such as Bill Clinton, Vladimir Putin, and Yanni (the renowned pianist), who played on the back drop of the Taj Mahal.

He furthered his skill set by working in butchery and garde manger whilst employed with the Starwood Hotels.

Praveen is a “Master Chef” in the famous cuisines of Bukhara and Dumpukht, which have a rich legacy of skill and flavor in Indian cuisine.

He has had the opportunity to open new hotels and restaurants as a Chef de Cuisine - namely the Kempinski in Dubai,  where he was awarded the "Best Culinary Chef" across the global properties of Kempinski. He also received salient points for his effort in building teams and managing an efficient and effective operation.

Praveen is very passionate about sustainability, local and organic food. He is a member of The Escoffier Society of Canada, and was accredited as the Certified Chef de Cuisine in 2011. He has worked as the Executive Chef at the Courtyard by Marriott Downtown Toronto and the Holiday Inn.

Currently, he is the Executive Chef and General Manager of The Global Alliance Hospitality Inc. and operates a boutique, fine dining and award winning restaurant “The Maharaja”.

At Humber, Praveen believes in teaching with a flair that will make a difference in the lives of those who are passionate about the culinary arts and are willing to persevere to achieve excellence!
