Every year, the third-semester massage therapy students organize and launch Massage Therapy Awareness Day as part of their Professional Growth and Development course. The goal of this event is to spread awareness of the benefits of massage therapy within the Humber community. The annual Massage Therapy Awareness Day on November 13th succeeded in doing just that.
This event is a valuable experience for HRT’s Massage Therapy students, as it allows them to practice one of the mandatory skills of promoting awareness of massage therapy. This year, students did this through the use of posters, brochures, and interactive activities. They also created demonstrative booths that represent the diverse areas of massage therapy to show what is to be expected. These booths included a general assessment overview, vital sign, postural, range of motion assessments, treatment overview, hydrotherapy and more. The turnout was great and we received excellent feedback!
It was great to see our students working so closely with other members of the Humber community. Thank you to all those who came out and participated!
